FEATURED NEOLOGISM:
“escriviure”, a Catalan neologism created as a result of a blending process: escriure ‘to write’ + viure ‘to live’. It was coined by the poet Ponç Pons (https://www.nuvol.com/musica/ponc-pons-escriptura-vida-%C2%ABescriviure%C2%BB-25872)
Elisabet Llopart-Saumell works as a terminologist at TERMCAT, Centre for Catalan Terminology, and is a former lecturer of different international and national universities, such as the University of California, Santa Barbara or the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) in Barcelona. She holds a B.A. in Translation and Interpreting, a M.A. in Theoretical and Applied Linguistics, and a Ph.D. in Linguistic Communication and Multilingual Mediation from the UPF. As a member of the IULATERM research group and the Observatori de Neologia at the Institute for Applied Linguistics (IULA), she participates in different projects devoted to Lexicology, especially Neology, and in Terminology and Lexicography.
