FEATURED NEOLOGISM:

My favourite neologism is “aklama rakmia” (أقلمة رقمية), a neologism in Arabic we have suggested in our termbase as an equivalent to “localisation” (L10N). “Aklama” refers to the linguistic and cultural adaptation while “rakmia” refers to the digital content. This neologism aims to replace another Arabic equivalent “tawtin” (توطين) because it is already used in the translation studies field as an equivalent of “domestication” and because it designates other concepts in different subject fields. Lina SADER FEGHALI is a full-time professor at Saint Joseph University of Beirut, Lebanon (link). She leads the Terminology Axis within the Center for Research in Translation Studies, Arabic Terminology and Languages (CERTTAL) at the School of Translators and Interpreters of Beirut – ETIB. Her teaching and research interests focus on Terminology, Translation Studies, Computer-assisted translation, Machine Translation, Post-edition and Specialised Translation. She has published various articles related to these fields. She leads a research project aimed at developing a termbase specific to the teaching of translation and translation studies.
