FEATURED NEOLOGISM:
The term bibliology (“bibliologie”) is, in the first instance, a word imposed by two Romanian dictionary authors, who attempted to enrich Romanian scientific terminology with terms taken from Latin and Greek. Thus, in 1871, A. T. Laurian and I. C. Massim, in their work “Dicționariul limbei române”, adapted this term from Greek and accomplished a unique approach in Romanian culture, imposing terms that did not exist in the language until then, with the aim of enriching the Romanian lexicon with as many neologisms as possible.
I am a senior researcher at the Department of Lexicology and Lexicography of the Institute of Romanian Philology “Alexandru Philippide” of the Romanian Academy – Iași Branch since 2004 (https://acadiasi.org/cercetatori/clim-marius-radu/). I am working on areas such as the computerization of Romanian lexicography, the editing of a direct dictionary in electronic format and the digitization of Romanian academic lexicographical works. As a lexicographer, I participated in the editing and revision activities of the Academic Dictionary of the Romanian Language (DLR), and also in the projects of computerization of the resources and editorial processes of the academic dictionary. I am also working on a project of digitization of 100 Romanian dictionaries (clre.solirom.ro) to optimize the documentation work related to the editing of the Romanian language thesaurus dictionary. I am also concerned with the study of neologisms in the Romanian language, in particular, the way they were treated in dictionaries.
