“Czynszojad”: the pejorative Polish equivalent of the English term “landlord”. It is a compound of the word “czynsz”, meaning “rent”, and the suffix “-jad”, used to describe a creature that feeds on a particular type of food. For instance, “mrówkojad” translates to “anteater” in English. The word can, therefore, be translated as “the one who eats rent” or “the one who feeds on rent”.

An undergraduate student of Romance Studies at the University of Lodz, interested in sociolinguistics, particularly in non-standard varieties of language and the language of new media.
