FEATURED NEOLOGISM:
I am and will continue to be a fan of post-it notes. I think they’re wonderful and I like them in different colours. My favourite neologism was created by the Office québécois de la langue française and is ‘papillon adhésif’ (adhesive butterfly). As the Grand Dictionnaire terminologique [https://vitrinelinguistique.oqlf.gouv.qc.ca/fiche-gdt/fiche/26506594/papillon-adhesif] puts it, it’s the combination of the words ‘papillon, feuillet, note, adhésif, autocollant, autoadhésif, amovible or repositionable’ to form this neologism using a visual metaphor. In France, the term ‘papillon’ instead of ‘post-it’ has been officially recommended by the Commission d’enrichissement de la langue française since 2005 (https://dictionnaire.lerobert.com/definition/papillon (point 3.)).
