YRI: A case-study on Anglo-Italian hybrid blends formed by -exit
Name: Mauro Le Donne
Start : 12/06/2025
End: 14/06/2025
With the support of a Young Researcher and Innovator Conference Grant (YRICG), Mauro Le Donne
attended the workshop Untangling the bundle: language contact at the word level and below,
hosted by the 14th edition of the Mediterranean Morphology Meeting, a biannual international conference that this year was held in Zadar (HR). There, he presented a research entitled A case-study on Anglo-Italian hybrid blends formed by -exit.
“This conference was the first opportunity to discuss my research on lexical blending to an audience of professionals working on topics related to morphology and the lexicon. It has been a great honour for me to be able to participate in such an event.”

In his presentation, he explored issues related to productivity, formal requirements, and the
major semantic patterns of a lexical database containing over 200 lexical innovations and neologisms
formed by -exit in the Italian political jargon and journalese.
During the event, he met old contacts again and made new connections with researchers working
on diverse topics, such as word formation, inflection, language change, morphological productivity,
language typology, language contact and lexical semantics.
