With the support of the ENEOLI COST Action (CA22126), Alena Němcová Polická presented two co-authored papers at the 17th International Conference of Slang Studies (XVIIe Colloque International d’Argotologie), held at the University of Alicante (Spain) on 23-25 September 2026.
The first paper, prepared with Anne-Caroline Fiévet, examined the circulation and reception of the French slang term blaireau (literally “badger,” used as an insult) from the 1980s to the present day, combining media analysis and questionnaire data.

The second paper, co-authored with Laurent Canal, explored aquatic metaphors in contemporary Francophone rap through a corpus-based analysis using RapCor boosted rap lyrics corpus.
Together, the presentations highlighted current research on lexical innovation, semantic change, linguistic creativity, and the use of digital corpus methods in the study of contemporary French, contributing to the objectives of WG2 and WG3.8
