With the support of an ITC Conference Grant, Andrzej Napieralski attended the international conference Parlers populaires. “Dans la guerre du langage”, de Vidocq à Rocé, where he presented a paper titled Des mots pour combattre : La néologie dans le rap français contemporain.

“The conference was a great opportunity to present my research on neologisms, verlan, and slang in French rap as forms of linguistic resistance,” Napieralski reported.

His presentation examined how marginalized language practices serve as tools of social and political critique within contemporary urban culture.

During the event, he established valuable contacts with researchers working on youth language, sociolinguistics, and discourse analysis, including prospective collaborators from the Czech Republic and Hungary. He also presented the broader goals of his project and discussed possibilities for joint publications.
