ITC: “Non-Binary Vocabulary in Slavic Languages: From Use to Codification”
Name: Boris Kern
Start : 10/04/2026
End: 12/04/2026
The paper “Non-Binary Vocabulary in Slavic Languages: From Use to Codification” was
presented within a specialised panel and reached a relevant audience of experts in Slavic
linguistics, corpus linguistics, lexicography, and language policy, ensuring targeted
dissemination of both the research and the COST Action.

The conference enhanced the applicant’s visibility as a researcher working at the intersection
of corpus-based language change and applied lexicography, while simultaneously increasing the visibility of the COST Action among relevant stakeholders. Several participants expressed
explicit interest in the Action’s activities, especially in relation to shared data practices and the
documentation of emerging lexical innovations. The participation led to the establishment of
new professional contacts with researchers and practitioners working on corpora of Slavic
languages, dictionary projects, and inclusive language initiatives.
A key outcome was the strengthening of integration within the ENEOLI research group. Panel
participants reached a preliminary agreement to develop a joint publication based on the
presented contributions, ensuring sustained collaboration beyond the conference. In addition,
the group agreed in principle to continue this line of cooperation by organising a follow-up
panel and participating jointly at the BASEES Annual Conference in the following year.
Overall, the conference participation delivered tangible outcomes: increased international
visibility, structured expert feedback feeding into a planned publication, formalised
collaboration within the ENEOLI group, and new partnerships with clear prospects for future
joint research and dissemination activities. These outcomes support the objectives of the COST
Action and will be further leveraged through continued collaboration and dissemination
efforts.
