FEATURED NEOLOGISM:
“un vocal” (in French): an audio message sent via an instant messaging application. The word “vocal” already existed in French, but only as an adjective (“related to the voice”), which appeared in the 15th century. It was formed by the ellipsis of “un message vocal”. Neology can sometimes be very simple: you just need to transform an adjective into a noun!
Benjamin Rouxel is a French translator, terminologist and lexicographer. He currently works as a lexicographer at Le Robert, a prominent French dictionary publisher. There he oversees neological research. For 10 years (2013-2023), he served as a translator coordinator at the Musée du Louvre. In this role, he worked extensively on developing multilingual corpus processing tools and terminological databases. www.linkedin.com/in/benjamin-rouxel-886bb762
