FEATURED NEOLOGISM:

My favourite neologism is infodemic, which is a blend of “information” and “epidemic,” coined in English. It refers to the rapid spread of both accurate and inaccurate information, particularly online, making it difficult for people to identify trustworthy sources. The term gained prominence during the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting the challenges posed by misinformation in times of crisis. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), addressing infodemics is crucial for effective public health communication. The structure combines the familiar concept of an epidemic with the vast reach of information in the digital era, encapsulating the overwhelming nature of modern media landscapes.
