FEATURED NEOLOGISM:

“Kidulting” is my favourite neologism because it refers to grown-ups who spend their free time engaging in activities considered more appropriate for children, like Lego building and collecting cards. Some reasons for its popularity can include the desire for nostalgia, a need for creative release, and a way to de-stress and find fun.
The language is English, the structure: Kid+adult
This cultural trend that is becoming popular across the world and the neologism appeared in 2008 in the Italian Encyclopedia Treccani.

I am PhD student in Human Sciences at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. My research interests are focused on metaphors in specialized domains, including popular science and terminology in science, especially in astrophysics and in quantum physics. I developed a part of my research project at the University of Geneva, in Switzerland for the cotutelle agreement. My first article “Astrophysique et vulgarisation. Une étude de cas” (2021) is focused on metaphors in popular science and their translation from French into Italian. My studies were also on metaphors in the Covid-19 pandemic and on metaphors in the domain of bakery in French and in Italian. I collaborate in the project “Sapori locali, a multilingual glossary about typical products from Emilia-Romagna” developed by prof. Chiara Preite at the Department of Studies on Language and Culture at University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.
