FEATURED NEOLOGISM:

One of my favourite neologisms is “ინტერნეტიზაცია” (internetizatsia) in Georgian, meaning “internetization.” It combines “ინტერნეტი” (internet) with the suffix “-იზაცია” (-ization), following the pattern of modernization-related terms. It emerged in the early 2000s as part of sociopolitical discourse about Georgia’s digital integration and global connectedness. It reflects how loanwords are localized through native morphological strategies.

I hold a Ph.D. in Georgian Language and Literature and currently serve as the Head of the Department of Georgian Language and Literature at Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University, Turkey, where I work as an Associate Professor. I am also affiliated as an Academic Visitor at the University of Oxford, conducting research on lexical innovation, identity, and translation in post-imperial and multilingual contexts. I am the first academic in Turkey to work on these topics at the university level.
My research explores the evolution of Georgian and Caucasian literatures, cultural identity, and language change, with a particular interest in how neologisms function across literary and sociocultural discourse. I have also worked in the field of lexicography, contributing to terminology studies, word formation, and dictionary practices.
My interdisciplinary background aligns strongly with the aims of the ENEOLI Action.
