FEATURED NEOLOGISM:
My choice for a favourite neologism is neither recent or original but apart from this, it ticks all the boxes. It’s “logiciel” in French, representing the concept of software. It’s a good neologism because it’s part of a series (“matériel” is hardware) since it’s easy to remember and has spawned other neologisms such as “didacticiel” for tutoring software. This neologism was coined as early as 1967, created by Philippe Renard.
John Humbley has been working on the lexicon of several languages, more especially with neology and terminology. He has published on the neology in terminology. He is at present a member of the research team CLILLAC-ARP. See the webpage https://clillac-arp.u-paris.fr/annuaire/humbley-john/
