FEATURED NEOLOGISM:

Adulting is a particularly interesting neologism because it doesn’t describe becoming an adult—it describes performing the tasks expected of one. The humorous implication is that adulthood feels less like a permanent state and more like an activity one occasionally succeeds at.

Lucía Gundín is a linguist and researcher whose work explores language variation, sociolinguistics, and the intersections of language, history, memory, and trauma. She is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Translation and Interpreting at the University of Salamanca. She is the first author of a published research article affiliated with the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) examining language variation, history, and trauma, and has presented her research at academic conferences. Her research experience includes psycholinguistics at the Mind, Brain and Behavior Research Center (CIMCYC) at the University of Granada, as well as an internship at the University of Santiago de Compostela. Her academic interests center on variationist sociolinguistics, language change, bilingualism, and the ways linguistic practices reflect identity, social experience, and collective memory. http://www.linkedin.com/in/luc%C3%ADa-gund%C3%ADn-mart%C3%ADnez-5b20403a0
