FOMO is an acronym that stands for “Fear of Missing Out.” FOMO describes the anxiety or apprehension that arises when someone feels they might be missing out on rewarding or enjoyable experiences that others are having. The concept of FOMO reflects the psychological impact of social media on well-being and is frequently discussed in studies related to mental health and digital behavior. This term has been widely used in academic literature, popular media, and everyday conversations to describe the influence of social comparisons and connectivity in the digital age.
Neslihan Onder-Ozdemir completed her postgraduate education at the University of Sheffield in the UK and received the Best Post-graduate student award during her MA and Young Researcher Award during her PhD education. Her main research interests are interdisciplinary research and projects and multilingual disciplinary literacies and academic writing and lexicology, especially in linguistics, medicine and engineering. She has experience in international projects, such as a researcher, project assistant and project advisor.
