Rui Pereira is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra and a member of CELGA-ILTEC (R&D unit). He was part of the Organizing Committee of the 6th International Congress on Neology in Romance Languages (CINEO 2025), held in Coimbra on July 7, 8 and 9, 2025.
His research areas include morphology and lexical semantics, in synchrony and diachrony, and the acquisition/teaching of Portuguese as a foreign language. In recent years, he has been studying lexical creation in non-dominant varieties of Portuguese, with a focus on the Mozambican variety.
