FEATURED NEOLOGISM:
рашисти (UKR)
“Rashists” is a neologism that became relevant during Russia’s war against Ukraine. It is composed of two words—a combination of the English name for the country, Russia, and the term fascism. It carries a distinctly negative connotation. The term primarily refers to Russians who either fight in Ukraine or support the current Russian government’s policies regarding the invasion of Ukraine. More broadly, it pertains to supporters of the militant ideology of modern Russian imperialism, which employs methods of total societal control in governance, characterized by authoritarianism, militarism, the absence of opposition to the government, and similar traits.
I specialised in Ukrainian Linguistics. My main research topics are Ukrainian political and media discourse, language of political advertising, neology of contemporary Ukrainian, business and political terminology, and glottodidactics.
